OUR COMMITTEES
Below is a brief summary of the various committees within our club. Each member is required to serve on a committe and decide on projects for upcoming year.
ARTS
Provide the club with many interesting and fun filled arts projects.
Past projects include Plant Container workshop, ornament and card
making craft night, tree decorating, cookie swaps, boxwood trees and wreath making.
Education
Concentrates on fostering education within the schools and continuing education
of members through different projects.
Committee members organize and keep up to date the Scholarship booklet for High school seniors found in the Guidance office.
Annual project is The Library appreciation reception during National library week.
Home Life
Concentrate on family, economics, health, substance abuse, and domestic violence
Past projects: Breast Cancer presentations, book donations to
library, clothing drives, and participation in American Cancer society relay for life.
Annual project is The Halloween Parade. Lead by the High School Band the children of the town are invited to dress up and parade in their new costumes. Each participant is asked to bring a non perishable food item to be donated to the Hanover Food Pantry.
Public Affairs
Focus on keeping members informed on issues of citizenship and offers its members a closer involvement with governmental issues around town.
Past Projects include a babysitting course, provide Christmas gifts to women veterans.
Annual Project is Candidates night. Candidates running for town officials are invited to come and introduce themselves and answer questions
by the town people attending. This is broadcast on local cable channel for all to see.
Ways and Means
Primary source of fundraising to support club projects. Full club member participation required.
Past projects include a Monte Carlo Night, Art Auctions, Touch a Truck, House Tours,and Fashion shows.
Money Raised from events are used to support scholarships, donations and committee projects.
Annual project is Breakfast with Santa
Hospitality
Set up schedule for hostess to provide refreshments at monthly meetings and plan the two dinner meetings annually.
Programs and Socials
Set up informative monthly programming for club meetings.
Remembrance & Telephone
Club members are remembered during times of illness, deaths or special happy occasions.
Gourmet Lunch Group
Group meets monthly for a gourmet luncheon, recipes are shared in our monthly newsletter.
Monthly Newsletter
The Anchor is our newsletter which goes out monthly to all club members and includes updates from all committee chairs
and minutes from previous months meeting.
Publicity & Press
Chairperson is responsible for keeping our community abreast on club happenings.
Yearbook
Each year a book is put together with the schedule of our monthly board and general meetings, program topics each month, calendar of events for our fundraisers, club members contact information, List of our Board members and officers, past presidents, General federation contact information and our Club By-laws.
How We Support the Community
Hanover Food Pantry
The Hanover Food pantry is staffed by several members of the Hanover Woman's club, juniors; and during various fundraisers
money and/or food is donated to the pantry.
Christmas Gifts for Veterans
For the past 30 plus years, HWCJ donate dozens of gift bags with toiletries, stationary, stamps, gift cards, clothing. for female residents/patients at V.A. Hospital in Brockton.
Scholarships
Through our fundraising, we give at least three scholarships annually.
Education Committee
Update and make available a booklet that details all of the scholarships that are available to Hanover residents.
The booklet is distributed to Hanover H.S. seniors with the assistance of the Guidance Department as well as to private schools at which a Hanover resident
attends.
Sponsor a MassSTAR delegate
HWCJ pays the tuition for The MassSTAR candidate nominated by the Hanover HS to attend the Mass Star.
